This Privacy Policy applies to Bitcrib, the feeds-and-speeds app for iPhone published by Jafforge (“we”, “us”, “our”). It replaces our general apps policy for this app, because Bitcrib collects considerably less than that policy allows for.
Summary
Bitcrib collects nothing. Its only network connection is to Apple’s App Store, to handle the one optional purchase.
- No account, no sign-in, no email address, no name.
- No analytics, no advertising, no tracking, no third-party SDKs.
- Every bit, machine, material and cut you enter stays on your iPhone and is never transmitted anywhere.
- The app requests no system permissions — no location, camera, microphone, photos, contacts or notifications.
What we collect
Nothing. We have no server, and Bitcrib contains no networking code of its own, so there is no mechanism by which your data could reach us.
What the app stores on your device
The records you enter, held in the app’s own local database on your iPhone:
- Your bits — name, diameter, flute count, shape, length of cut and notes
- Your machine profiles and any materials you add or edit
- Your cut log — the bit, material and machine, the speed and feed used, the outcome you chose, and any run time or note you added
- Settings, such as which material each bit was last used in
This data is written only to your device’s private app storage. It is included in your normal iPhone backup (iCloud Backup, or an encrypted backup to a Mac) under Apple’s terms, the same as any other app’s data, and it is deleted when you delete the app.
The in-app purchase
Bitcrib offers one optional, one-time purchase that lifts the five-bit cap. The purchase is handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit. Apple processes the payment and keeps the receipt under its own privacy policy; we receive no payment details and no identifying information about you. The app stores a single flag on your device recording that the purchase was made, and asks the App Store to confirm it when you restore.
Third parties
Apart from Apple’s App Store for the purchase above, there are none. Bitcrib bundles no analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or attribution SDK, and makes no request to any other server, ours or anyone else’s.
Children
Bitcrib is a tool for CNC router owners and is not directed at children. Because it collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of Bitcrib adds a feature that changes any of the above, this policy will be updated before that version ships, and the change will be described in the app’s release notes.
